Listed below are many FAQ’s I have been asked by clients, but if you have a question that is not listed below please do not hesitate to leave a comment and inquire, and I will be sure to include it on this page.
Where are you located?
I am located in London, Ontario, but I am more than happy travelling to clients.
Do you charge a travel fee?
Depending on the location, a travel fee will be incurred, which will be determined upon the location of the client.
How much does it cost for makeup application?
Depending on the makeup application being applied (special event, fashion editorial, ect.) the price will vary. I will discuss the cost of the makeup application with the client before booking their appointment.
Do you use fake lashes?
ALWAYS! I love fake lashes and the effect they have on the overall look of the finished makeup application. I highly recommend them to clients, but if they absolutely detest having them, we will go without. Lashes are included in the price of makeup.
How long does a makeup application take?
Depending on the intricacy of the makeup look, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes (special event, bridal, prom, beauty photo shoot, etc.) to 2-3 hours (fashion editorial, special effects, etc.)
What makeup brands do you use?
My makeup kit consists of mostly MAC products, but I definitely use many other brands that are of high quality, and offer amazing results. Some of the brands I use include but are not limited to:
- Two Faced
- Urban Decay
- Makeup Forever
- Lisa Watier
How long have you been doing makeup for?
I have been playing with makeup since I was a young girl, then started watching YouTube makeup tutorials into my teens, absorbing everything I learned and always practising on myself and friends. About 4 years ago I started offering my services to the public, booking weddings and special events. I recently (in April 2015) established my business Lipstick Lounge and have gone from “I do makeup on the side” to “I am a makeup artist owning my own business “Lipstick Lounge” doing freelance makeup and hair services”.
Have you gone to school for makeup?
No I have not. I have considered many times to go to school and have visited a number of credible schools, but due to the high cost of these courses, and the cost of living in the cities where they are offered, I haven’t been able to convince myself to spend the $20,000+ it would cost to pursue this route. Everything I know I have either taught myself, or educated myself via books, the internet, and other makeup artists. I like to compare being a makeup artist to being a professional singer-you can go to school and have an amazing teacher, learn everything there is to know about the topic, and practise, but if you don’t have the gift born within you, it is a very hard thing to be taught. If you’re good you’re good, and if you’re not, you’re not.
